About "Belgium Brussels"
To depict a city is always a difficult task, since every city is
many-sided, and an artist should try to catch the wholeness of the city
by painting just one street, one park, one embankment. Nevertheless,
Leonid Afremov is always able to fulfill such a task, and this marvelous
canvas of his proved this statement. Looking at it, we see the rainy
evening that has plunged the street into twilight. Several people are
seen on the wet sparkling road, with their umbrellas saving them from
the rain. The exquisite old buildings have beset the street. Some
windows of their upper floors are empty and dark, and some of them are
hiding the dull yellow light behind the curtains. Nevertheless, the
windows of ground floors are full of bright luminescent light that is
slowly flowing on the street. Several signboard have already become
unreadable; therefore, it is better for us to look upwards, where a bell
tower is disappearing against the variegated background of the twilight sky.

Leonid Afremov (born 12 July 1955 in
Vitebsk, Belarus) is a Russian-Israeli modern impressionistic artist who works
mainly with a palette knife and oils. Leonid Afremov graduated from Vitebsk Art
School. Leonid worked a lot and participated in many different exhibitions in
Vitebsk. Over time he has developed his own unique technique and style, which
is unmistakable and cannot be confused with other artists. Before the
advancement of online sales, Afremov was a struggling artist. He was born in
Vitebsk, Belarus, and lived there until 1990. Between 1990 and 2002 he lived in
Israel and from 2002 to 2010 in Boca Raton, Florida. Afremov currently resides
in the popular resort town Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, Mexico, near Cancun.
Leonid paints mainly landscape, city scenes, seascapes, flowers and portraits.
Most of his work is considered very colorful and politically neutral.
